MMA finish rate and record calculator
Enter wins by method and losses to see win percentage, finish rate and a method breakdown.
Why finish rate matters
A record such as 20-3 tells you how often a fighter wins, but not how. Two fighters can both be 20-3, yet one has won 18 times by knockout and the other has won 18 times on the judges' scorecards. Their fights look completely different and so does their risk profile. Finish rate, the share of wins that end inside the distance, adds that missing detail. This calculator takes your method counts and returns win percentage, finish percentage and a breakdown you can see at a glance.
How the numbers are calculated
Total wins are the sum of KO/TKO, submission and decision wins. Total fights are wins plus losses plus draws. Win percentage is wins divided by total fights. Finish rate is KO/TKO plus submission wins divided by total wins. The method breakdown shows each method as a share of total wins. For example, a fighter with 8 KO wins, 4 submissions, 6 decisions and 2 losses has 18 wins from 20 fights, a win rate of 90%, and a finish rate of 12 divided by 18, which is about 67%.
Reading finish rate with context
A high finish rate is not automatically better. It can reflect elite power, but it can also reflect a small sample of fights against weak opposition. A low finish rate can reflect a defensive style, a division with durable fighters, or a strong wrestling base that wins rounds rather than fights. Heavier divisions tend to produce more knockouts, while lighter divisions often go to decision more often, so compare fighters within the same weight class where you can.
What the calculator does not count
MMA records sometimes include no contests, disqualifications and technical decisions. This tool does not model those. If a fighter's record includes them, leave them out of the inputs or count them as the closest match, and remember that your totals may differ from the official record. The tool is also only as accurate as the numbers you type in, so check them against a reliable source such as the promotion's official statistics.
Using it with the comparison tool
You can use this calculator for any fighter, including amateurs and local pros, and for fantasy or discussion about an upcoming matchup. For fighters in our database, the comparison tool already shows finish rate and a win-method chart. Common mistakes
The most common error is dividing finishes by total fights instead of total wins. Another is judging a fighter on a tiny sample: a 3-0 prospect with three knockouts has a 100% finish rate that tells you very little. Consider also the level of competition and how recently the finishes happened. A fighter whose knockouts came five years and many fights ago may have a different profile today.
